Toasted Strudel

I loved these especially being pregnant. These are My guilty pleasure hands down!!! And so easy to make. You can substitute a lot of the ingredients for low-fat and sugar free, and not make the icing for a little healthier option.

you need....

🍬1 box of puff pastry- 2 sheets

🍬8 oz of cream cheese

🍬1/2 cup of granulated sugar

🍬1 teaspoon of vanilla Extract

🍬2 tablespoon of heavy cream

🍬2-4 tablespoon of jam - I used blackberry.

🍬 1 egg

icing

🍬1 cup powdered sugar

🍬 splash of water

🍬1/4 teaspoon of almond extract

1. preheat oven to 400

2. Let puff pastry set out at room temperature for ten mins.

3. While the dough softens you make the cream cheese mixture. Beat together cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and heavy cream. Set aside.

4. Unfold the pastry Dough and cut three lines vertical and four lines horizontally.

5. Then, with a sharp knife score a rectangle in the middle of each square. Make sure not to cut all the way through. Doing this will Keep the filling inside while the puff pastry rise around it.

6. Place a dollop of cream cheese mixture inside the rectangle. Add a few drops of jam. I used a fork to kinda swirl both mixtures together.

- Make sure not to add to much cream cheese. My first batch, the cream cheese expanded and went everywhere.

7. Beat the egg and brush it along the edges.

8. Pop it in the oven til the dough rises which takes about 10 mins. 9. remove and cool before drizzling icing over them.

Icing

- put everything in a bowl and combine (if it’s to runny then add more sugar and if to thick add a splash of water). Thats it!
